20 Baby Freebies in Canada 2023: Get Free stuff and Save money!

When Mrs. T was pregnant, we knew having a baby would require us to buy a few baby things, despite us being frugal. While we have the belief that kids are only as expensive as you make them, there are essential baby items that you must have. So you can imagine how pleased we were to find baby freebies in Canada.

Before Baby T1.0 was born, Mrs. T and I searched all over the internet and applied for free baby samples available in Canada. To our surprise, there were tons of baby freebies you could apply for during the pregnancy and even after your little one is born. While there aren’t as many baby freebies available in Canada compared to the US, any free stuff is better than nothing at all, right?

When Mrs. T was pregnant with Baby T2.0, we went through our original list and applied for as many free samples as we could get (we also revised the list). Recently my sister-in-law gave birth to a little boy (my first nephew!). This gave me another chance to update our baby freebie list. Since I have updated the list, I figured I’d share with my readers in case anyone’s looking for free baby stuff in Canada.

In case you’re wondering, these free baby items are super easy to sign up for. Why do companies send you free baby stuff? Well, basically they want you to try these products for free so you would buy these products or visit their stores in the future.

The Best Baby Freebies in Canada

Here’s a list of the best baby freebies for Canadians. Now most of these items are super easy to apply for and can definitely save you some money in the long run. For items like baby formula that we didn’t use, we simply donated to charities or other families that needed these products. I’d highly recommend donating anything that you do not use to others in need. Share the love!

London Drugs Baby Welcome Package

If you live in Western Canada, you can sign up and receive the London Drugs Baby Welcome Package. Instead of sending you a package with free samples, when you sign up on the London Drugs website, they will email you back a certificate to redeem the package at a store of your choice. You’d go to the nearest store and talk to someone at the customer service desk to get the welcome package.

Free Baby Stuff - London Drugs Baby Welcome Package

The London Drugs Baby Welcome Package comes in a cute little box with free samples such as Huggies newborn baby wipes nursing pads, Kleenex sample box, moisturizing cream, Aveeno baby products sample box, and other baby freebies. We did notice that the contents of the welcome package were slightly different for Baby T1.0 and Baby T2.0. So London Drugs definitely changes the contents every so often.

Babies R Us

Here in Canada, when you sign up for The Baby Registry with Babies R Us and add 25 items, you’d automatically receive a $25 coupon. You also can enjoy a 10% off your registry items. If you’re an R Club member, you’d receive 15% off your registry items. In addition, you will also get a Babies R Us swag bag loaded with trail packs, samples, and coupons. Some of the free samples (for us) included pacifiers, baby wipes, nursing cream, nursing pads, and a BPA-free baby bottle.

Similac Baby Club

Mrs. T and I think both that breast milk is best for your newborn. However, due to various reasons, some moms may have to supplement breast milk with formula or relying on formula entirely. Because Baby T1.0’s struggles with gaining weight, we had to supplement breast milk with formula for a number of months. As a result, we signed up for the Similac Baby Club and received close to $200 in free baby products and coupons, including free bottles and formula.

Baby Freebies - Similac Club

When Baby T2.0 was born, we were fortunate enough to not need to feed her formula. We signed up for the Similac Baby Club regardless and donated the formula to the local food bank.

Huggies Newborn Diapers & Wipes

When Baby T1.0 was born, we originally wanted to use cloth diapers exclusively. We quickly ditched that idea because meconium (baby’s first stool) was very dark and the stains were nearly impossible to wash off. Needless to say, we were happy that we had some free Huggies newborn diapers in the house. We ended up using only disposable diapers for the first month for both of our kids.

With Huggies’ No Baby Unhugged Program, you can get a free pack of newborn diapers (32 diapers) and wipes when you upload a photo of your hug. Huggies will also donate $5 to No Baby Unhugged to help participating Canadian hospitals to ensure all babies get the hugs they need.

To sign up for the No Baby Unhugged Program, you must be a Huggies Reward member. If your baby is older than four weeks, Huggies will send you coupons for Huggies products instead.

For us, the package arrived within a couple of weeks of application. We were able to get multiple packages by using different shipping addresses and emails. It really saved us on the cost of newborn diapers.

Enfamil Family Beginnings

Similar to Similac, Enfamil has the My Family Beginnings by Enfamil A+ Program. Once you sign up, you will receive up to $160 in coupons plus free baby products and formula samples.

Baby Freebies - Enfamil

The nice thing about Enfamil’s baby freebie package is that you get some premixed baby formula which can be handy if you are only supplementing formula for a few days. With Baby T1.0, this is what we did initially, using the premixed baby formula. We didn’t start using the powdered formula until a month later.

Walmart Baby Box

Many businesses are trying to get into the baby registry business and Walmart Canada is certainly one of them. By creating a baby registry with Walmart Canada, Walmart will send you a bonus baby box. The bonus baby box is very similar to all the other baby freebies that I’ve already mentioned which contains free samples and coupons.

Update: Walmart may have discontinued the baby registry.

Nestle Baby & Me Program

Baby freebies - Nestle Baby & me

The Nestle Baby & Me Program provides support for parents and caregivers during the baby’s first 1,000 days. As a member, you will receive a personalized pack of gifts and coupons around 35 weeks of pregnancy which includes The Good Start 1 Baby formula (premixed and powdered), a baby bottle, Cetaphil baby lotion, and coupons. The package is valued up to $130.

Family One

Need free baby stuff? Look no further than family.one which was formerly known as Baby Box Canada. This great website offers lots of free giveaways to enter, freebies to redeem and perks with discounts to other businesses. You can sign up for the freebies and giveaways here. There are always giveaways and freebies on family.one and when one ends, there’s usually another one that follows. Most of the giveaways and freebies are geared toward newborns.

FamilyRated Club

FamilyRated Club is a program that will give you the chance to receive free products by you writing an honest review. Some of the items you may receive include household cleaners, body wash, diaper rash cream, diaper bags, etc. If you’re into writing reviews, this might be a good program for you to join and receive free baby products.

Pampers Freebies

I was surprised that Pampers didn’t offer any specific freebies like Huggies. Instead, you can join Pampers Rewards program. By joining the program, you can collect points when you purchase Pampers products. You will get free e-gift cards as well. Once you collect enough points (Pampers Pins), you can then redeem for free Pampers products.

In addition to the Pampers Rewards program, you can also check out Pampers’ coupon offers which have coupons including $40 off Ergobaby products, $2.50 off Pampers Cruisers diapers, and $1.50 off Pampers pack of wipes.

Thrifty Foods: Free Prenatal Vitamins

Thrifty Foods’ Baby Be Healthy Program is meant to take care of new mothers by providing free reliable and professional advice from the local Thrifty Foods pharmacists. The best part about the program? You will get monthly worth of free prenatal vitamins (30 days) each time! Given that prenatal vitamins are quite expensive, getting a month worth of prenatal vitamins will save you quite a bit of money.

Basically you would have a consultation on prenatal and postnatal nutrition. The pharmacist would give you the 30 day free prenatal vitamin then. Then every month, the Thrifty Foods pharmacists would call you to let you know that your complimentary prenatal vitamins are ready for pickup.

Best Buy Baby Sampler Club

Like many companies, Best Buy is now carrying a huge selection of baby and maternity products. The Best Buy Baby Sampler Club allows parents-to-be or parents with a baby under age two to test and keep baby products for free in exchange for writing a review.

Now this isn’t an apply-and-you-get-free-stuff type of program. First you need to get selected by Best Buy, test the baby product, then write an honest review, whether positive or negative. Best Buy carries a lot of baby and maternity products like strollers, car seats, baby monitors, nursery decor, etc. I have noticed that Best Buy has been expanding their selection of baby & maternity products.

Unfortunately, although we signed up for the Best Buy Baby Sampler Club. We were never selected to test and keep baby products. Your experience may differ from ours.

Chapters Indigo Memory Book

For the longest time I’ve always thought Chapters Indigo was selling books only. Then a friend of ours directed us to Chapters Indigo for baby registry. When you sign up for the baby registry, you can get a 20% completion discount on any baby registry items that aren’t purchased by friends or family. You’d also get a free Hello World Baby Memory Book which is retailed for $35 CAD.

hello world memory book

Sounds too good to be true on getting a free item and discounts just for signing up for a baby registry? You’re right. The Chapters Indigo Baby Registry must contain a minimum of 15 items with qualified pre-tax purchase(s) of $50.

Sobeys Baby Be Healthy

The Sobeys Baby Be Healthy program is quite similar to the one I covered earlier with Thrifty Foods. Given Sobeys owns Thrifty Foods, this shouldn’t come as a surprise that the two programs are very similar.

By signing up for Sobeys Baby Be Healthy program, you get free pharmacist consultation, baby savings, free welcome kit, free prenatal vitamins, and on-going support for you and your baby. To sign up, head to your nearest Sobeys Pharmacy and they will enroll you in the program. In case you’re curious, you will receive free vitamins for two years with monthly pick ups.

Procter & Gamble Every Day Offers

This is not exactly baby freebies but P&G Every Day Offers provide coupons and vouchers for the many Procter & Gamble brands including brand names like Pampers, Tide, Bounce, Vicks, and Olay.

Thrifty Foods: Free Birthday Cake

We didn’t know about Thrifty Foods’ free birthday cake until friends of ours ordered one for their kid’s first birthday. Thrifty Foods will give you a 8×12 birthday cake for your child’s first birthday. All you need to do is go to your local Thrifty Foods, walk up to the bakery department, and place a free first birthday birthday cake. They will ask for your child’s name, gender, and when you want to pick up the cake.

It’s not the tastiest cake I’ve had but you certainly can’t say no to a free cake!

Amazon: Free Welcome Box

Given online shopping is getting more and more popular, the Amazon free baby registry definitely has its appeals. I have seen a few friends doing their baby registry with Amazon, have their friends and family ordering registry items, then have these items shipped directly to the to-be-parents without anyone needing to visit a store.

As a prime member, you can select a free gift once $25 or more is purchased from the registry. Prime members also receive 15% on eligible baby items when you complete your registry. Non-prime members will receive a 10% discount.

Now if you have a mailbox in the US, you can get a free welcome box by signing up Amazon.com’s baby registry. For some reason, the free welcome box isn’t available for Canadians anymore.

Interestingly, the Canadian version offers free 45-day returns but the US version offers free 365-day returns on most items purchased from your registry.

BuyBuy Baby

With BuyBuy Baby, you can create a baby registry and receive a free Goody Bag full of great samples and a BuyBuy Baby coupon. There’s no purchase required but it does require you to stop by a BuyBuy Baby store to pick up the baby freebies.

Cetaphil Parents Club

Unfortunately, Cetaphil doesn’t send out any free baby samples. However, by joining Cetaphil Parents Club you do get exclusive offers and coupons for savings on baby skincare products and parenting tips. You also get a $5 coupon for Cetaphil Baby products. In case you’re wondering, Cetaphil Baby products are hypoallergenic, paraben free, mineral oil free, and colourant free.

MAM

Looking for some free calendars to track some important dates and your baby’s developments? By registering the MAM Club you can receive a free personal pregnancy calendar with helpful info and tips as well as a personal baby development calendar tailored to your baby’s age.

Extra – Bump, Baby & Toddler

A reader pointed out that Bump, Baby & Toddler Expo in Hamilton Ontario offers samples and offers.

Summary – 20 Baby Freebies in Canada

As you can see, there are some great free baby samples you can get in Canada. The list I had used to be longer. Unfortunately, some companies, like Thyme Maternity, are no longer offering baby freebies or they are out of business.

Given that baby items can quickly add up in terms of cost, it’s always nice to get some freebies so that having a new baby doesn’t hurt your wallet as much.

Dear readers, do you know any other companies in Canada that offer free baby samples?

Perfect timing as my niece is expecting in August. I’ve passed on the link and strongly suggested that she sign up for your newsletter – hopefully you’ll get another subscriber ;-).

  2. Thanks a lot!
One note: Walmart doesn’t seem to do a registry anymore. It still shows it through the link you shared but clicking it takes you to a page that says they don’t do it anymore.

Customers can choose to move an existing public registry to MyRegistry.com — a website that specializes in managing registries of all kinds.”
