Weekend Reading – the weekend before Christmas

Wow I can’t believe it’s a week until Christmas. Where did the time go? Mrs. T’s family will arrive in Vancouver tomorrow to officially kick off our Christmas holiday mode. Because Scandinavians celebrate Christmas on the 24th, we’ll be having the Christmas dinner on the 24th. We’ll be hosting everyone this year and we’re very much looking forward to it. Having a 10 people sit down formal dinner will be the largest meal that we’ve ever done at our place. 🙂

Earlier this week, one of my posts got picked up by Lifehacker. It was pretty neat to see my name mentioned on Lifehacker. If you haven’t, please sign up for my Christmas giving challenge to help others in need this holidays season.

What about those Vancouver Canucks eh? The team hasn’t been doing well the last couple of months. Then during the last game against the Philadelphia Flyers, we lost the team captain, Henrik Sedin. Hopefully Henrik won’t be gone for long because the team has a serious depth issue at the centre position. Considering the team has no chance of winning the Stanley Cup if they make the playoffs this season, I’m all for tanking this season and try to get the #1 draft pick.  Auston Matthews anyone?

Here are some great articles that I enjoyed reading recently. Enjoy!

Steve asked What if everyone stopped paying attention to others?

Justin explained How they reach financially independence at their 30’s. It’s inspiring reading about the details.

Cait wrote about If we were on a coffee date.

Robb explained How to budget for irregular expenses.

J. Money has Learned a lot after 5 years of self-employment. Love the beard dude!

Red to Riches wrote a guide on How to buy business shirts frugally. Although I don’t wear dress shirts for work everyday, I definitely deploy some of these points.

Mark explained This average retirement to plan to wealth. Got to say that I love DRIP.

Have a great weekend everyone! Stay safe and don’t forget to give if you can. I’ll be donating blood this weekend to help someone in need. This has been a ~56th day tradition (you can donate blood after 56 days) for me for over 5 years now. 🙂

    Tawcan,

Excited to hear how the big dinner goes – 10 people can be a very unique experience for sure! You should write about how the meal was prepared, if individuals brought sides, etc.. It’ll be a nice read!

Also – thank you for mentioning the article – still recovering for sure over the divvy cut, but looking forward and ahead, that’s without a doubt!

Have a great rest of the weekend Tawcan, and thank you again!
